Abraham Lincoln
　　Abraham Lincoln（亚伯拉汗.林肯）was born in 1809 in Kentucky. His parents were farmers. When he was 8, they moved to Indiana（印地安那，美国一州）. The next year, his mother died. Lincoln helped his father with farm work when he was young. He loved to read, but there were few books,so he always walked several miles to borrow a book.

　　At the age of 19, Lincoln went to New Orleans（新奥尔良，美国一城市）. There he saw some people selling and buying slaves（奴隶） for the first time. He decided to （决定）end（结束） the slavery（奴隶制） for the rest of his life. In 1836, Lincoln became a lawyer（律师）. He liked to meet and help poor people. He was famous for being hard-working（工作勤奋） and honest（诚实）. Lincoln believed（相信） that the United States stood for freedom（自由） for all. He worked hard to end the slavery.

　　On March 4, 1861, Lincoln became president（总统） of the United States. Many southern states（南方的州） declared（宣布） that they were not parts of the United States. In the April of 1861, the Civil War （内战）began. In 1865, Lincoln's army won the war and the slavery was abolished（废除）. On April 14,1865, Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes. The next morning, he died.

　　Both his friends and his enemies（敌人） praised（表扬） his selflessness and kindness（无私与仁慈）. Americans will remember him forever.
